ANDREW BARNETT

    Another of Scioto Countys residents and a Civil War
    veteran was claimed by death Sunday evening about 7:30
    oclock when the call to the land of Eternal Rest came to
      Andrew Barnett at the home of his daughter Mrs. George
       Bender in Sciotoville. Mr. Barnett who was 86 years of age
    had been bedfast for five years. Infirmities caused death  
      which came as an end to several years of suffering. Despite
       his months of helpless- ness, Mr. Barnett never lost faith in
      his Master and remained a firm believer that he would do
        that which is best. Andrew Barnett was born at Paintsville,
    KY. But he settled at Sciotoville while still Young and    
      committed to make that village his home. He worked as a
        teamster for some years and later fought in the Civil War,
    he received an honorable detachment.                              
      His wife, Mrs. Hulda Barnett, died in Sciotoville some
       years ago. He is the last of a family of six children to pass
        away. Surviving are seven children: Mrs. Effie Thicken of
           Sciotoville, Mrs. Nannie Carver of New Boston, Mrs. Sadie
       Stiles, Mrs. George Bender, William Barnett, and James
              Barnett of Sciotoville, and Mrs. Flora Reed of La Verne, CA.
            The deceased was well known in Sciotoville where he led
           a retired life for some years. He had a legion of friends who
            will learn of his death with genuine sorrow.  Funeral services
           will be held from the Sciotoville Christian Church Thursday
     afternoon at 2:00 with Rev. Charles Reinhard in charge.
    Burial will be in Rowley Cemetery east of Sciotoville.
