James Barnett
James Barnett, 76 of Camp Bennett died at 6:45
this morning at Portsmouth General Hospital, where
he was taken Monday afternoon suffering from a
heart condition. He had a heart attack 10 years
ago.
He was born Jan. 10, 1873, in Scioto County. He
was a contracting carpenter and a member of
Harding Avenue Church of Christ and Sciotoville
I.O.O.F. Lodge. He was a son of Andrew and
Hulda Rowley Barnett.
He was married to Miss. Vina Shonkwaler,
who died in 1926. His second wife, Mrs. Viola
Martin, to whom he was wed in 1927, also
preceded him in death.
Surviving are his third wife Mrs. Elizabeth
Snapp Baker Barnett, to whom he married Oct.
26, 1948; an adopted daughter, Mrs. Marjorie
Reinhardt of Sciotoville, and these stepchildren;
Mrs. Hazel Hood, 5539 Endicott Ave., Willard H.
Martin, 612 Bloom St.; Adrian Martin, 5625
Fourth St. and Gilbert Martin of Lorain; Mrs. Dela
Davis, Mrs. Elizabeth Davis and Richard Snapp of
Mechanicsburg, Mrs. Luville Metz of Springfield,
Miss. Anita Snapp of Denver, Col., Mrs. Ella
Watercutter of Ft. Loramie, O., Emerson Snapp of
Medway and William Snapp of Urbana. A brother,
William Barnett of Swauger Valley, and two
sisters
Mrs. A.L. Zoub of Los Angeles and Mrs. George
Bender of Harrison St. Sciotoville, also survive.
Two
brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at Gill Funeral
Home
at 2 p.m. Friday with Rev. Elbert White of Stock-
dale officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park
Cemetery. The body will remain at the funeral
home.
