EVANS
  Clarence W. Evans, 77, of Wilson Ave., Sciotoville, died Friday, Aug. 12, 1994 at the Southern Ohio Medical Center Scioto Memorial after a long illness. He was born Dec. 2, 1916 in Waverly, Ohio, to the late Roscoe Evans and Myrtle Bloomfield Evans. He was retired from State Highway Dept. in 1988 and was an insurance agent for both Commonwealth and Western Southern Companies, a veteran of WWII in Army, member of Central Baptist Church in Portsmouth and Sciotoville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3638. He is survived by his wife, Garnet L. Benner Evans, whom he married June 5, 1938 at Paris, KY. He is also survived by one son; Larry W. Evans of Columbus, OH; one brother David Evans, Sciotoville; four sisters; Mrs. Helen Strickland, Sciotoville; Mrs. Alma Payton, Sciotoville; Mrs. Patricia Thompson, Sciotoville; Mrs. Peggy Whitehouse, Cherokee Village, Arkansas; three grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one sister; Mrs. Irene Gammon. Services were held Tuesday, Aug. 16, 1994 at Don Wolfe Funeral Home in Sciotoville with Rev. Eddie Neville officiating. Burial in Memorial Burial Park at Wheelersburg. Memorial contributions can be made to Central Baptist Church of Portsmouth. Graveside military rites were conducted by James Dickey Post American Legion 23.
