John L. Evans

  John L. Evans, 84, of Sciotoville, died Friday,
Aug. 20, 1999 at Kings Daughter's Hospital in
Ashland, KY.  A native of Portsmouth, he was
born March 6, 1915 to the late Mont and Myrtle
Smith Evans.  He was a retired foreman in the
instrument maintenance department at Goodyear
Atomic Corp. with 24 years of service, was a
Member of the Sciotoville Christian Church, and
was a 1934 graduate of Sciotoville High School.
  He was preceded in death by five brothers:
Richard E. Evans, David Estil Evans, Alva Evans,
Ernie Evans, and Mont "Jack" Evans; and one sister
Zora Curry. Surviving are his wife of 60 years,
Hazel Patton Evans, whom he married Nov. 18,
1939 in Sciotoville; one son: Roger Evans of
Deering; one daughter:  Joy Bolander of
Jacksonville, FL; six grandchildren; and 12
great-grandchildren. Services were held at 2p.m.
Monday, Aug. 23, 1999 at the Brant Funeral Home
In Sciotoville with Art Marcum, minister,
officiating. Burial in Scioto Burial Park. The
family's favorite charity is the Sciotoville
Christian Church.
